Signs Of Low Stomach Acid + How To Support

See slide for details, and throw any questions in the comments on this Instagram Post! #letgoandgrow

Low stomach acid, or hypochlorhydria, is a condition where the stomach produces insufficient hydrochloric acid (HCI). Hydrochloric acid is important for proper digestion and absorption of nutrients- it helps break down food, activates digestive enzymes, and protects against harmful bacteria and pathogens that enter the digestive tract. Signs of low stomach acid include:

– bloating and gas
– indigestion
– heartburn
– nutrient deficiencies
– chronic fatigue
– undigested foods in stool
– hair loss or brittle nails
– frequent infections
– acid reflux

To support healthy stomach acid levels, we can focus on specific dietary and lifestyle changes such as choosing to connect and get present while eating, engaging the senses, chewing our food properly, consuming a balanced, whole foods oriented diet with adequate protein (25+ grams per meal), supplementing wisely (a digestive enzyme with HCL, pepsin and ox bile can work wonders), sleeping deeply and taking time to rest and digest, activating the parasympathetic branch of the nervous system through relaxation techniques.
